Leadership Team Effectiveness: Tailored to Your Team

Specifically tailored to each unique team, through interviews and assessments, we uncover hidden strengths and the barriers that are holding leadership teams back. Effective interventions are then designed and implemented to improve team effectiveness.

While each team is unique we believe that all high performing teams are characterized by five essential components (based on the work of Patrick Lencionni; 5 Dysfunctions of a Team):

  • Trust
  • Productive conflict
  • Commitment
  • Accountability
  • Focus on results

The following are typical examples of teams with whom we have successfully improved team effectiveness:

  • Newly formed teams whose accountabilities are critical to the business
  • Teams that need to do their job differently or transform themselves to meet future business needs
  • Cross-functional teams, geographically dispersed
  • Seasoned teams that are not performing at their peak
  • Teams with new leadership
  • Teams needing to integrate new team members into the culture of the current team
  • Teams challenged by new accountabilities needing to improve results quickly (condensed time frame)

What might I experience during a team development process?

Baseline interviews

Through the interviews, we will identify team strengths that can be leveraged, as well as areas that can benefit from further development. The interviews can be a critical component for success, providing a fuller perspective of the issues and promoting buy-in from the team members.

Note: An Executive Summary Report may be provided, outlining the team’s perspective, along with recommendations for how to incorporate the feedback into our approach to team development.

Additional Team Assessment’s completed by team members

5 Dysfunctions Team Assessment.

This online assessment helps team members see where their team is now, relative to:

  • Trust,
  • Productive conflict
  • Commitment
  • Accountability
  • Results

And where there are opportunities to be a more effective team. It also establishes a benchmark for the team’s performance so progress can be tracked in the future.

For more information on the model, access the Five Dysfunctions PDF here.

Personalysis Assessment

This personality assessment tool provides each team member with an individual report as well as a team report. Personalysis provides insight into what people trust and need, how we deal with others and how we cope under stress. The team report offers an understanding of how the team operates as a unit, how it makes decisions, how it communicates and how to leverage the team’s collective gifts and mitigate vulnerabilities.

Offsite Retreats

One or two-day offsite retreats are intended to promote enhanced leadership team effectiveness. Using the baseline data and incorporating the team leaders desired outcomes, the retreat is designed so that team members gain a better understanding of themselves, their team and specific actions which lead to a more highly functioning team. The session will use individual and team assessment data, individual reflection and group exercises to gain insight into what unlocks the full potential of the team.

A Prioritized next-step plan to continued team growth

Based on the outcomes of the interviews, assessments and the team development retreat Crossland Consulting will recommend next steps to outline a roadmap for continued team effectiveness. Examples include:

  • Targeted leadership development focused on individual and/or team vulnerabilities
  • Learning opportunities to improve operational effectiveness
  • Improving effectiveness by building emotional intelligence
  • Employee engagement opportunities
  • Meeting effectiveness
  • Improved Team Decision Making process
  • Communication strategies
